As an act of twisted humor and a bit of an effort to attract tourists to the District of Jämtland in
the Swedish Land of Norrland, Actor and Director Ynvge Gamlin founded the Republic of Jämtland.
Toying with the thought of a separation from Sweden to form an own Republic. Such a Republic
should have a President of their own. A bit of a laugh.
Today it is a cultural thing at the big annual festival Storsjöyran in Östersund..
Just as Skåne, Jämtland was added to Sweden later. From Norway. And just as Skåne they
got their own flag.
