Södermalm a presentation
Something about the part of Stockholm the Millenium books and films take place.
The Island of Södermalm. Söder as the locals call it.
Söder is part of the inner city. The Island is just south of Gamla Stan. Which also is an Island. Or holme as it can be said. Stock-holm.

It is the bohemian part of town. Where punks, drunks, anarchists, artists, street culture, second hand stores nowday's got company of hipsters, the hip cultural elite, food trucks, tourists and the nouveau rich. It is a vivid part of Stockholm.
Even if the Townhall at the moment tries to kill the atmosphere with banning the rock clubs in the inner city.
It is not Camden, Soho or St Pauli. It is not Kreutzberg or somthing like that. But it have some of those places. In a very Stockholm kind of way.
Lisbeth Salander pretty much hung out with her friends, in the female rockband, at the places me and my friends sometimes did. Like so many generations of alternatives done. Hung out on Kvarnen

that have a very distinct profile and a soul that is very much manifested in the football club (soccer) Hammarby IF. Or Bajen as the locals call the club. Green and White is their colors, you vill notice the green and White banners here and there.
The pub Kvarnen that is frequented by both Lisbeth and Mikael, is one of the Hammarby fans (Bajen Fans as they are called) favorite pub. Don't bring a black and yellow scarf there. Then there will be trouble.
Along with the Bajen banners you will see quite a few Pride flags. They are everywhere as well.
The are four main roads that runs through the island. Götgatan (where Millenium is located), Hornsgatan (Kaffebar), Folkungagatan and Ringvägen. Most of the story takes place north of these roads.which is a bit odd. Because most of the highlife takes part south of them. The area South of Folkkungagatan is nowday's called SOFO. Trendy and hip.
But there are still some of Knivsöder left, the knife Söder. But don't worry, you won't notice it.
Actually Knivsöder is the Area Martin Beck in the Haber series stand on his balcony and being asked if he want's a Stänkare by the peculiar neighbour.
